Prosecutors alleged that Flynn shot his wife while she was in bed and then fabricated a story about a home invasion. He called 911, claiming someone had broken in while he was asleep on the couch. Flynn also mentioned a suspicious encounter with a man who handed his wife an American flag a day before the killing.
Aleigha Botner, Flynn’s mistress, testified that he expressed hatred toward his wife and thoughts of killing her. Prosecutors presented AI-generated love songs and over 100,000 text messages between Flynn and Botner. Miami County Prosecutor Paul Watkins criticized Flynn for showing no remorse and endangering his children by killing their mother at home.
