Indonesia Detains 11 Suspects Linked to Terrorist Groups Across Six Provinces

POLICY WIRE — Jakarta, Indonesia — Indonesian authorities have detained 11 individuals suspected of being affiliated with terrorist organizations in a nationwide operation spanning six provinces, according to recent reports.
The arrests, conducted by the Special Detachment 88 (Densus 88), took place in West Java, Central Java, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Riau, and North Maluku since October 2. The suspects, aged between 22 and 52, were identified using their initials, including HN, SM alias NM, HA, YDKAP, S, A, CG, J, MF, AF, and MW.

Densus 88 spokesperson Mayndra Eka Wardhana stated that the individuals are believed to be associated with Daulah Islamiyah, a term used to describe local extremist groups linked to Islamic State ideology. Investigations revealed they were involved in activities such as network coordination, training, propaganda, recruitment, and planning attacks. Some had reportedly undergone physical and shooting training, while others participated in online meetings connecting supporters across regions.
