Drone Attack Sinks Ship Off Bulgaria Coast, PM Confirms
Bulgaria's prime minister confirms drone attack sank a ship in the Black Sea. Rescue efforts underway as tensions rise.
POLICY WIRE — Sofia, Bulgaria — A commercial vessel was sunk off Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast after being struck by drones, according to Prime Minister Rumen Radev, marking the second such incident in a week.
The attacks occurred in the exclusive economic zone of the NATO member state, with one ship destroyed and another set ablaze. Rescue operations are ongoing, though details about the crew’s status remain limited.
Radev stated there is no definitive evidence pointing to the perpetrators, but he suggested the attacks may align with Russia’s interests. “Logic” implies potential benefits for Moscow, he said, while emphasizing the need for further investigation.
