POLICY WIRE — Nashville, USA & London, UK — A two-day festival dedicated to Dolly Parton will be held in Nashville and London in 2027, following her passing from cancer at age 80 last week, her estate announced.
Initially planned for January 2026 to coincide with her 80th birthday, Dollyfest has been transformed into a celebration of her enduring legacy. Parton was set to be both the host and a performer at the original event.
Organizer Danny Nozell, founder and CEO of CTK Enterprises, shared insights on the festival’s evolution. We had secured the venue and were ready to announce the event. However, in August 2025, Dolly faced health challenges, prompting a change in plans. In line with her spirit, Dollyfest now embodies ‘What Dolly Would Do’, Nozell stated.
Regarding memorial services, Nozell emphasized that Parton preferred a festival-style celebration over a traditional memorial. We encourage people to honor Dolly in their own ways. A formal memorial was not her wish. Instead, we’ll proceed with this festival concept, which was truly inspired by Dolly, he explained.
In accordance with Parton’s wishes, there will be no public ceremony. A private service, confirmed by The Associated Press, was held on Friday, attended solely by her immediate family.
