POLICY WIRE — Hong Kong — Cathay Pacific Airways, Hong Kong’s flag carrier, has announced a 71% year-on-year increase in net profit, reaching HK$6.24 billion (US$802 million) for the first half of 2026. The surge is attributed to heightened demand.
Cathay Group chairman Guy Bradley, presenting the interim results for the first time since assuming his role earlier this year, noted that although jet fuel prices had decreased from their peak in the second quarter, they’re now rising again due to escalating tensions in the Middle East.
