Asian Markets Rebound as Tech Sentiment Stabilizes Following CoreWeave Volatility
Asian stocks recover as tech shares rally and bond markets stabilize. Discover how CoreWeave's expansion and earnings impact regional financial trends.
POLICY WIRE — Tokyo, Japan — Asian equity markets staged a recovery on Friday, shaking off the heavy selling pressure that gripped the region during the previous session. Investors returned to technology stocks, helping to stabilize sentiment after concerns regarding CoreWeave’s debt levels had previously sparked fears about the financing behind the artificial intelligence boom.
The rebound was particularly evident in the Kospi Index, which serves as a key indicator for AI-related investments. The index rallied 4.6 percent, bolstered by significant gains in Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, both of which climbed approximately 7 percent following positive outlooks on shareholder returns.
Market confidence was further reinforced by strong performance from major tech players. CoreWeave shares surged 16 percent in extended trading after reporting sales growth that exceeded expectations, while Super Micro Computer saw its stock jump 7.6 percent following a revenue forecast that surpassed analyst projections.
Despite the broader regional recovery, Indonesia faces significant headwinds. Jakarta stocks plummeted 11 percent as the market braced for the potential removal of Indonesia from MSCI indexes. This downturn coincides with CoreWeave’s announcement of plans to establish a physical presence in the country, featuring three data centers designed to provide 360 megawatts of contracted IT power.
Elsewhere in the financial landscape, bond markets showed signs of stabilization after a sharp decline in yields on Thursday prompted a rush toward safe-haven assets. Meanwhile, the US dollar trended toward a weekly loss, and oil prices edged slightly lower as traders continued to evaluate ongoing risks in the Middle East.
