US Launches New Task Force to Block Iranian Ground Routes and Caspian Sea Traffic
Washington expands its Iran pressure campaign with a new military task force targeting land borders and Caspian Sea routes.
POLICY WIRE — Washington, USA — The US military announced on Saturday that it is establishing a specialized task force. This move aims to tighten the noose on Tehran’s ability to move advanced weapons and other sanctioned goods across its land borders and the Caspian Sea.
This initiative builds upon the naval blockade that has been in effect for months. The new components target specific ground transit corridors previously used by Iran to support shipments that violate international sanctions.
The restriction efforts are designed to disrupt legal and illicit trade pathways. Central Command, or CENTCOM, is leading this effort to cut off these secondary routes of commerce.
