POLICY WIRE — Worcester, Massachusetts — Authorities in Worcester, Massachusetts, have issued an arrest warrant for Kara Dunn, a mental health advocate who has been missing since her husband, a police officer, was found dead in their home more than four days ago.
The body of Officer James Dunn was discovered on Wednesday, prompting an extensive investigation. Kara Dunn, who has not been seen since, is now the subject of a manhunt. Worcester Police Chief Steven Sargent confirmed the issuance of the arrest warrant during a press conference on Saturday.
“We are treating this as a criminal investigation and are utilizing all available resources to locate Ms. Dunn,” Sargent stated. “Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is urged to contact the Worcester Police Department immediately.”
The circumstances surrounding Officer Dunn’s death remain under investigation. The couple had been married for several years, and Kara Dunn is known for her advocacy work in mental health. Neighbors described the couple as private but kind.
This development comes amid heightened scrutiny of domestic violence and mental health issues within law enforcement communities. The Worcester Police Department has pledged full cooperation with state and federal agencies to resolve this case.
