Appeals Court Backs Trump-Backed Missouri Map, But Supreme Court Final Say
Missouri's congressional map faces legal hurdles as appeals court sides with Trump-backed districts, but Supreme Court will decide final outcome.
POLICY WIRE — Jefferson City, United States — A federal appeals court has ruled in favor of a new congressional map backed by President Donald Trump, despite the U.S. Supreme Court previously blocking its use in the November election.
The three-judge panel of the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals stated that Missouri should use the Republican-drawn U.S. House districts for the upcoming election, as it did in the August primary. The ruling came after the state’s prior districts were deemed unconstitutional if they were to be changed for the general election.

However, the decision has no immediate effect as the appeals court delayed its order for a week to allow time for an appeal. The U.S. Supreme Court has already twice rejected the Trump-backed map and blocked enforcement of a lower court order favoring it pending further review.
