Atlanta Mother Marks 48th Year of Search for Son Kidnapped from Hospital After Birth
Donna Green continues her 48-year search for her son Raymond, who vanished from an Atlanta hospital just five days after birth. New awareness event announced.
POLICY WIRE — Atlanta, USA — For nearly five decades, Donna Green has maintained a relentless quest to find her son, who was snatched from the family home just five days after he entered the world. Raymond Green disappeared in November 1978, and no trace has been found in 48 years.
To keep the case alive, Green is set to host her annual fundraiser, ‘A Night of Courage: Resilience of Hope,’ this Saturday at Saint Paul A.M.E. Church in Atlanta. The gathering aims to bring public attention to Raymond’s specific disappearance and highlight other unresolved cases of missing individuals.
Green has organized these memorial events around her son’s birthday since 2023, following a collaboration between the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and GSTV to broadcast Raymond’s story.
“I’m still looking for that little baby that I held in my arms. I believe he’s coming home,” Green stated during a 2023 press conference regarding the campaign.
The tragedy began on November 1, 1978, when Raymond was born at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. While observing her newborn son through the nursery glass, Green began speaking with a woman who called herself Lisa Morris. According to statements provided to NCMEC in 2018, the woman claimed she was visiting her sister and a new relative.
Over the following several days, Morris made visits to Green’s hospital room. When the time came for Green to leave the hospital, the woman asked for a ride home, claiming she resided only a short distance away.
Five days after the birth, Morris arrived at the Green residence and was never seen again.
