POLICY WIRE — Washington, D.C. — The Republican Party is facing internal turmoil following a major midterm defeat that has many members questioning the party’s current direction. A majority of Republicans believe the election results were more indicative of public sentiment toward Donald Trump than the quality of the candidates themselves.
The losses have been described by some supporters as a disaster, with angry critics pointing directly at Trump for the electoral wipeout. As the GOP reels, leadership is reportedly struggling to identify a viable path forward in a political landscape where the former president’s influence is increasingly scrutinized.
