Witkoff Confirms Abu Dhabi Summit: U.S. to Broker Ukraine-Russia Talks Nov 10-11
US envoys Witkoff and Kushner set Nov 10-11 Abu Dhabi trilateral talks to end war. Security guarantees for Ukraine top agenda in resumed diplomacy.
POLICY WIRE — Washington, D.C. — U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff announced that delegations from Russia, Ukraine, and the United States will convene in Abu Dhabi on Nov. 10 and 11 to resume efforts toward ending the ongoing conflict.
The White House is mediating this new round of negotiations, which marks the first trilateral engagement since diplomatic channels were suspended in February due to the war in Iran.
Witkoff stated that the upcoming sessions are a direct result of recent discussions between presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian officials.
A central focus of the Abu Dhabi meeting will be addressing one of Ukraine’s primary demands: securing formal guarantees for its safety once the hostilities cease.
This summit represents a significant diplomatic pivot, occurring roughly nine months after the last face-to-face encounter between Russian and Ukrainian negotiators, which took place in Switzerland last February.
At this stage, it remains uncertain specifically which figures will serve as representatives for Russia and Ukraine during the upcoming trilateral discussions.
