Vivienne Jolie Legally Drops Brad Pitt’s Surname Amid Growing Family Rift
Vivienne Jolie has officially changed her name to Vivienne Jolie, becoming the fifth child of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to drop their father's surname.
POLICY WIRE — City, Country — Vivienne, the daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has officially completed the legal process to remove her father’s surname from her name.
The 18-year-old is now the fifth of the six children born to the former couple to abandon the ‘Jolie-Pitt’ moniker.
The couple’s eldest biological child, 20-year-old Shiloh, followed this suit in 2024 upon reaching their 18th birthday, now going by the name Shiloh Jolie.
Earlier this July, both 24-year-old Maddox and 21-year-old Zahara published public notices to formally excise the actor’s name from their legal identities.
While it remains unclear if Vivienne’s twin brother Knox has finalized a legal name change, he utilized the name Knox Jolie during his high school graduation this past June.
Currently, 24-year-old Pax Jolie-Pitt is the only sibling still using the double-barreled surname. Reports indicate he is also the only child who maintains a line of communication with Brad Pitt’s side of the family.
Despite maintaining this link, Pax has expressed deep resentment toward his father. In a 2023 Father’s Day post, the then-teenager labeled Pitt a ‘world class asshole’ and a ‘f***ing awful human being.’
In the private message, Pax accused Pitt of being a ‘terrible and despicable person’ and claimed that the four youngest children feel fear when he is present.
Pax further stated that his father’s actions caused hell for those close to him and predicted that the truth of his behavior would eventually emerge.
Angelina Jolie, 51, and Brad Pitt, 62, ended their relationship in 2016 after a decade-long partnership. The split followed a 2016 flight incident where Pitt allegedly became aggressive with his wife and children.
Though an FBI inquiry into the child abuse allegations resulted in Pitt being cleared of all charges, court documents from their 2022 divorce revealed harrowing accounts of the flight.
Legal filings state Jolie told investigators Pitt’s conduct on a trip from France to Los Angeles terrified the children. She alleged he lunged at a child, requiring her to restrain him in a choke hold.
A representative for Pitt has denied these allegations. An associate close to the actor stated that it is unfair to portray him as a ‘bad person’ and noted that he maintains great respect for his children while remaining silent.
