Ukraine Destroys $70M Air Defense Systems and Missile Fuel Plant in Rostov
Ukrainian forces strike the Kamensky chemical plant and $70 million worth of air defense assets in Russia's Rostov region, according to President Zelensky.
POLICY WIRE — Rostov, Russia — Ukrainian military forces executed a precision strike against critical Russian infrastructure, targeting a missile fuel facility and high-value air defense equipment.
President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Sunday, November 1, that the attack hit the Kamensky Chemical Plant, which serves as a vital supplier of solid rocket propellant used in Russian missile systems.
The aerial operation also resulted in the destruction of an S-400 Triumf command-and-staff vehicle and an upgraded Pantsir-S2 complex.
Officials estimate the combined value of the destroyed air defense assets at approximately 70 million dollars.
Yuriy Slyusar, the governor of the Rostov region, claimed that local air defenses intercepted more than 150 unmanned aerial vehicles during the overnight assault.
While the governor did not disclose the total number of drones used in the attack, NASA’s Fire Information for Resource Management System provided evidence of the impact.
Satellite data detected a significant thermal signature originating from the chemical plant starting at 1:14 a.m. local time.
Zelensky confirmed that the facility hit is a major component of the Russian defense industry specifically involved in rocket production.
