POLICY WIRE — Jerusalem, Israel — Election officials in Israel have announced that the recent parliamentary vote will be upheld, despite Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s accusation that Arab‑led parties stole the outcome.
Netanyahu’s Likud party has asserted, without presenting evidence, that Arab parties manipulated the ballot to deny the governing bloc a parliamentary majority, a claim viewed as an effort to hinder a potential opposition coalition that could challenge his leadership.
The chair of the Central Elections Committee has requested that the nation’s security agencies investigate allegations of foreign interference, specifically referencing reports that Qatar financed activities aimed at boosting the Arab vote.
Likud officials said they will forward hundreds of testimonies and documents to the Israel Police, the Shin Bet security service, and the election committee as part of their push to overturn the results.
Authorities maintain that the allegations will not invalidate the election, emphasizing that the results remain legally binding and that any probe will proceed without affecting the current parliamentary composition.
