Sebastian Croft’s Celebrity Traitors Win Secures Vital £41k for Choose Love Charity
Actor Sebastian Croft wins Celebrity Traitors, donating his £41,500 prize money to Choose Love to support refugees and displaced people worldwide.
POLICY WIRE — London, UK — The humanitarian organization Choose Love has expressed immense gratitude after receiving a significant donation from actor Sebastian Croft following his victory on the BBC One gameshow, Celebrity Traitors.
The 24-year-old Heartstopper star, widely known for his role as Bash, emerged alongside comedian Romesh Ranganathan in the show’s dramatic series finale aired on Friday.
The duo secured the total prize pot of £83,000, with the winnings being split equally between the two winners to benefit their respective chosen charitable causes.
Croft is donating his £41,500 share to Choose Love, a global humanitarian movement formerly operating as Help Refugees that provides emergency aid and long-term assistance to displaced populations.
Emma Stevenson, the acting chief executive officer of Choose Love, stated that the organization is thrilled and deeply grateful to the actor for selecting them after his major television win.
Stevenson noted that Croft has been a long-term supporter and close friend of their mission, emphasizing that the vital funding will quite literally change and save lives.
She further highlighted that the funds allow the group to extend critical aid to refugees, particularly LGBTQ+ individuals who face violence and persecution due to their identity.
While Croft supports Choose Love, Ranganathan is directing his half of the prize to the Refugee Council, which assists individuals who have fled war and violence to rebuild their lives within Britain.
The final episode was a massive ratings success, drawing an average overnight audience of 11.2 million viewers, the highest figure for the second season of the series.
The broadcast also reached a peak of 11.6 million viewers on BBC One, making it the most-watched installment of the celebrity spin-off to date.
The tension reached a breaking point when fellow traitor King Kenny voted against Maya Jama at the final roundtable, resulting in her banishment and the loss of the potential cash prize.
Despite missing the win, TV presenter Maya Jama announced on Saturday that she personally donated £83,500 to her chosen charity, Action for Children.
Action for Children, which supports vulnerable children facing poverty, abuse, and foster care challenges, expressed its delight over the generous donation from the presenter.
