Ahmad Tibi Signals Joint List Support for Anti-Netanyahu Government From Outside
Ahmad Tibi announces the Joint List will support a new government coalition to oust Netanyahu in exchange for critical Arab society reforms.
POLICY WIRE — Jerusalem, Israel — Veteran Knesset member Ahmad Tibi, the second-ranking figure in the Joint List, declared Saturday that his party is prepared to assist Zionist-led opposition in forming a government to replace the current administration.
In a briefing to the press, Tibi detailed specific practical strategies aimed at preventing the Prime Minister from remaining in power under a caretaker status.
The Joint List chairman announced a proposal on Sunday to provide support for an alternative government from outside the official coalition. This support is contingent upon formal commitments to address the specific requirements of Arab society.
As the head of the predominantly Arab parliamentary bloc, Tibi stated that the party is reaching out to the ‘change bloc’ to remove the current government leadership.
Tibi indicated that the alliance would back the replacement of Amir Ohana to ensure the opposition gains control over the parliamentary agenda.
The MK further emphasized that the party would do more than simply recommend a rival to Netanyahu for the role of Prime Minister.
