Zelenskyy Confirms Starlink Connectivity Restored to Necessary Levels in Ukraine
President Zelenskyy confirms Starlink satellite speeds are back to operational levels after recent restrictions hindered Ukraine's defense capabilities.
POLICY WIRE — Kyiv, Ukraine — President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that the Starlink satellite network has returned to the operational speeds required by Ukrainian forces. This restoration follows a period of more than a week where connectivity slowdowns significantly impeded the nation’s ability to counter Russian military aggression.
The Ukrainian leader characterized the previous speed limitations on military-grade Starlink systems as a deliberate, planned operation intended to weaken the country’s defensive posture. Zelenskyy noted that internal testing confirmed these specific restrictions were not applied to the satellite service in other European nations.
Recent reports indicated that the Starshield version of SpaceX’s technology had been throttled, creating complications for military operations against Russian forces. While the service has improved, Zelenskyy informed Fox & Friends that connectivity remains somewhat limited.
During the interview, the president mentioned that he had been in contact with Rubio, who pledged to assist in unblocking the remaining slowdowns. Despite the recent progress, Zelenskyy clarified that full access for the Ukrainian military has not yet been completely restored.
