Russell Brand Trial: Accuser Testifies He Treated Her Like an Animal
A UK court hears testimony from a woman accusing Russell Brand of rape, detailing allegations that the comedian degraded and assaulted her.
POLICY WIRE — London, United Kingdom — A woman who accuses Russell Brand of rape testified in court that she messaged the British actor and comedian to tell him he had treated her like an animal.
The trial, taking place at Southwark Crown Court in London, has heard multiple accounts from women making serious allegations against the 51-year-old entertainer.
During the proceedings, one of the accusers stated that Brand degraded her and treated her like a piece of meat during the alleged attack at his London townhouse.
Testimony also revealed that the comedian allegedly apologized for treating her like an animal in subsequent messages following the incident.
Brand is facing allegations that he engaged in sexual activity without consent after meeting a woman in the audience at a Hammersmith Apollo show in 2009.
Another accuser told the court on Thursday that she was terrified during an alleged assault in a hotel room, describing Brand as becoming monster-like before the attack occurred more than two decades ago.
