Ukraine Deploys ‘StarGate’ Drone to Revolutionize Battlefield Medical Evacuations
Ukraine tests the new StarGate drone, an innovative aerial system designed to evacuate wounded soldiers from high-risk front-line zones safely and quickly.
POLICY WIRE — Kyiv, Ukraine — A new piece of military technology is undergoing evaluation on the front lines of the conflict in Ukraine. The StarGate, an aerial drone developed by the defense firm SkyFall, is designed to perform medical evacuations in areas too dangerous for traditional ground vehicles.
The drone features a specialized medical module capable of carrying a stretcher and a payload of up to 150 kilograms. By utilizing a combination of Starlink, proprietary L-Link communications, and artificial intelligence, the system is built to navigate environments where GPS signals are jammed or electronic warfare is prevalent.
Military commanders, including those from the 475th Separate Assault Regiment, are currently testing the drone’s capabilities in combat conditions. With a one-way range of 15 kilometers and the ability to reach speeds of 105 kph, the technology aims to provide a critical lifeline for soldiers trapped in high-threat zones where ground-based rescue attempts often face significant delays or insurmountable obstacles.
