SK Group Chairman Sells Stake to Dell Family Fund for $406 Million
SK Group chairman sells 1.34% stake in SK Inc to Dell family fund for $406 million as part of divorce settlement plan.
POLICY WIRE — Seoul, South Korea — SK Group chairman Chey Tae-won has finalized the sale of a 1.34% stake in SK Inc to DFO Public Investments, an investment vehicle affiliated with Michael Dell’s family office, for 544 billion won ($406 million). The deal is part of a broader effort by Chey to secure funds for a divorce settlement.
Regulatory documents confirm that the transaction involves a 1.34% shareholding in SK Inc, valued at 544 billion Korean won. This move aligns with Chey’s strategy to raise a total of 944 billion won through share sales, which will be used to settle financial obligations tied to his divorce from Roh Soh-yeong, who serves as director of Art Center.
Court orders have previously mandated that Chey pay a specific sum to his former spouse, and this latest sale marks a key step in fulfilling those requirements. Despite the transfer, Chey remains the largest shareholder of SK Inc, the holding company of the South Korean conglomerate SK Group.
