Pedro Pascal Reveals Cello Challenge as Career’s Toughest Task for New Film
Pedro Pascal calls cello learning his toughest role yet in 'Behemoth!' as film hits UK theaters Dec 4.
POLICY WIRE — Los Angeles, United States — Pedro Pascal has revealed that mastering the cello for his new film Behemoth! was the most difficult task he has faced in his acting career.
The 51-year-old actor, known for his role in The Last Of Us, plays Alex Serian, a talented musician returning to Los Angeles to work on film scores. To authentically portray the character, Pascal had to learn the cello under tight deadlines.
Speaking at the BFI London Film Festival premiere, Pascal described the experience as more challenging than battling the Mountain from Game Of Thrones or even leaping off a cliff with Nicolas Cage. Despite the struggle, he now deeply appreciates the instrument and its unique physical presence.
The film, directed by Tony Gilroy, features Olivia Wilde, Eva Victor, and Will Arnett. Originally intended for Oscar Isaac, who stepped down last August, Pascal took on the lead role. Gilroy praised Pascal’s performance, calling him essential to the film’s success and its vibrant energy.
Producing the film in Los Angeles proved financially challenging, as it is not a sequel or IP-driven project. However, the team managed to create the film economically, emphasizing its significance in an industry dominated by blockbuster films.
Behemoth! will be released in UK cinemas on December 4.
