UNDP Expands Global Partnerships as Funding Challenges Rise
UNDP partners with World Bank and others to boost development finance amid global funding shortages.
POLICY WIRE — New York, United States — The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has announced a new partnership framework with the World Bank Group and other financial institutions to support economic growth and job creation in developing nations.
UNDP Administrator Alexander De Croo emphasized that the agency is strengthening collaboration with the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank, and private investors to advance investment and employment initiatives. This move comes as official development assistance declines and global cooperation faces challenges.
A recent UN report highlighted worsening development financing trends, with progress stalling or reversing in many areas due to weakened international collaboration and rising geopolitical tensions. Despite an increase in contributions to inter-agency pooled funds in 2024, shortfalls remain for key global development instruments.
