Elon Musk Invests $276M in GOP Candidates Ahead of Midterm Elections
Elon Musk pumps $276M into GOP campaigns as he seeks to influence November's midterm elections.
POLICY WIRE — City, Country — Elon Musk has poured over $276 million into Republican-aligned fundraising groups and his own super PAC, positioning himself as a major force in the upcoming midterm elections.
The billionaire, who previously spent around $300 million to support Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign, has now shifted focus to bolstering GOP candidates across key state races. This latest financial push is expected to make him the top political donor in 2026, despite earlier claims of reducing political expenditures.
Musk allocated $158 million to the Senate Leadership Fund, $76 million to his American PAC, $20 million to the Congressional Leadership Fund, and $10 million to a Texas Senate PAC. He also contributed to the Republican Governors Association and the Republican Attorneys General Association. His efforts reflect a strategic move to shape the political landscape through funding and influence, particularly on his social media platform X.
