USS Abraham Lincoln Completes Historic Deployment Amid Crew Health Concerns
USS Abraham Lincoln returns to San Diego after 321-day mission, with crew reporting declining conditions and technical issues.
POLICY WIRE — San Diego, United States — The USS Abraham Lincoln has concluded its longest continuous deployment in recent history, returning to its homeport in San Diego after a 321-day mission in the Middle East.
The aircraft carrier’s extended time at sea has drawn attention due to reports of deteriorating living conditions among its crew, raising concerns about morale and mental well-being during the prolonged period away from home.
The ship arrived back in San Diego on October 8 following a deployment that included support for operations related to the Iran conflict. Earlier in the mission, the vessel faced mechanical challenges, including localized piping failures and temporary desalination unit problems, though the Navy stated these were resolved without long-term impact.
