POLICY WIRE — New York, United States — Kalshi is engaging in advanced negotiations to secure approximately $1 billion in new capital from both existing and new investors, including Tiger Global Management and Dragoneer Investment Group, according to individuals familiar with the discussions. The move comes as the prediction market platform aims to solidify its position against rival Polymarket.
The upcoming funding round is expected to close in the coming weeks and would value Kalshi at around $40 billion, according to sources who requested anonymity due to the confidential nature of the talks. This follows a previous $1 billion raise in May that valued the company at $22 billion.

Sequoia Capital is reportedly leading the latest funding round alongside Wellington Management, with Alfred Lin, a co-leader at Sequoia, serving on Kalshi’s board. Meanwhile, Tiger Global and Dragoneer’s roles and the full scale of the investment remain undisclosed. Kalshi, which is regulated by the CFTC, has been expanding beyond prediction markets to compete with traditional financial exchanges like CME Group and Intercontinental Exchange. Recent data suggests it has gained market share over Polymarket, which is also seeking a $1 billion fundraising round.
