Residents waded through knee-deep floodwaters, some braving the conditions to purchase groceries while others tried to dry out their homes. Aduenan Surorot, a motorbike-taxi driver, said he had to leave his home to get food as stores ran low on supplies.

The prime minister’s office urged citizens to avoid panic buying and warned that price gouging could result in criminal charges.
