The suspect was apprehended hours later at a hospital in Ramallah. Shortly after, Israeli forces stated they had “eliminated” a Palestinian driver who allegedly tried to ram soldiers near the Ganim settlement. No injuries were reported among the troops, though Reuters could not confirm the military’s account. The connection between the two incidents remains unclear, especially as the events unfolded on the eve of Yom Kippur.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered security agencies to increase their presence and conduct arrests and offensive operations in the region. Meanwhile, Hamas praised the shooting but did not claim responsibility.
