POLICY WIRE — Valencia, Pennsylvania — Federal authorities have arrested a 21-year-old Pennsylvania man accused of planning a violent attack in support of ISIS, according to officials.

The suspect, Jonathan Kramer, was taken into custody Saturday near a hotel in Cranberry Township, about 25 miles north of Pittsburgh, after the FBI claimed he was preparing for a mass casualty incident. Kramer allegedly pledged allegiance to the Islamic State of Syria and had plans to carry out an attack against U.S. citizens.

Federal agents said Kramer had been using encrypted platforms to discuss methods of violence, including chemical poisons, vehicle attacks, drone-delivered explosives, and firearms-based assaults. During a search of his hotel room and home, investigators found a semi-automatic rifle, ammunition, a rifle scope, 30 knives, and a note stating, ‘I cannot live in constant fear.’ The FBI also uncovered social media messages suggesting an attack was being planned.
