POLICY WIRE — Miami, United States — A Boeing 767-300 cargo aircraft bearing Amazon’s logo on its tail crashed just beyond the perimeter of Miami International Airport on Sunday afternoon.

The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the jet overran the runway around 2 p.m. ET while landing after a flight from San Juan, Puerto Rico.

FAA officials identified the aircraft as a 21 Air flight; the company’s website lists Prime Air — an Amazon subsidiary — among its customers.

Video footage captured thick plumes of smoke rising from the crash site, which appeared to be located on a roadway adjacent to the airport property.
