POLICY WIRE — Washington, USA — President Donald Trump announced Friday his intention to deploy between $400 million and $500 million from his political operation to assist Republicans as the November midterm elections approach in roughly two months.
Speaking to reporters within the Oval Office, Trump stated that he believes his super PAC holds nearly a billion dollars, and he intends to allocate roughly four or five hundred million of those funds.
We’re going to spend a lot of money because we do not want to lose our country, Trump told reporters.
The announcement comes as GOP strategists and officials in tight House and Senate contests have been eager for the MAGA Inc. political action committee to increase its financial activity.
Some within the party had expressed worry that the organization’s substantial financial reserves were remaining unused while critical races remained undecided.
According to the most recent Federal Election Commission filings, MAGA Inc. held $403.45 million in cash as of July 31, a figure that is less than half of the billion-dollar estimate mentioned by Trump.
Since the start of 2025, the group has maintained a conservative spending approach, utilizing approximately $21 million, which includes $1.7 million dedicated to independent expenditures.
Despite the discrepancy in totals, the Associated Press notes that the funding available to MAGA Inc. exceeds the cash on hand of any major party committee.
The PAC has initiated limited activity in swing states, such as funding a recent Michigan event featuring Vice President JD Vance, but has not yet spent the massive sums Trump outlined Friday.
Trump indicated that he will personally determine the distribution of these funds, focusing on Republican candidates he views as capable of winning competitive seats.
“I’m going to spend whatever amount of money necessary to try and help us,” Trump said, adding, “This is my money that I control.”

However, the funds are not Trump’s personal wealth. The FEC classifies MAGA Inc. as an unauthorized hybrid PAC, which means it does not solicit funds for any specific individual candidate.
While its non-contribution account can accept unlimited donations to fund independent spending for or against candidates, these assets cannot be given directly to the candidates themselves.
Trump also suggested that a surplus may remain after the November vote, which could potentially be utilized in 2028.
Under federal regulations, MAGA Inc. is not required to exhaust its balance during this cycle, allowing it to save funds for future political activities or other approved uses.
This financial commitment follows Trump’s Wednesday announcement that he would increase his personal involvement in the final stretch of the midterms.
The President pledged to make numerous campaign stops for Senate and House candidates, including a planned trip to Alaska to support Senator Dan Sullivan.
“I’m going to help a lot of the congressmen and senators that need help,” Trump said Friday.
