POLICY WIRE — London, UK — A man has been handed a prison sentence for his role in aiding Daniel Khalife, a former soldier who became the center of a massive nationwide manhunt after fleeing custody.

Adeel Khan, a 32-year-old resident of Waltham Forest in east London, was sentenced to four years and six months of imprisonment on Friday, September 4.

The sentencing took place at Snaresbrook Crown Court following a trial that lasted two weeks.

Khan was convicted of assisting an offender, having provided help to Khalife in the immediate hours following his high-profile escape in September 2023.

Court details indicate that Khan provided assistance to the fugitive from within a jail setting.
