POLICY WIRE — Tamworth, UK — A man who confessed to police that he “disposed” of his wife after stabbing her 77 times has been sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 20 years.
Robert Alexander, 66, was found guilty of murdering his wife, Christina Alexander, 60, at their home in Dosthill, Tamworth, in June 2025. The retired nurse was preparing to leave their six-year marriage when the attack occurred.
Alexander stabbed Christina more than 70 times and inflicted blunt force trauma using a dog food can. Following the brutal assault, he told police, I’ve disposed of my wife.
The court heard that Alexander had been coercive and controlling throughout their marriage. Jurors unanimously convicted him of murder in June.
