POLICY WIRE — London, UK — British actor Ray Winstone has revealed that he confronted a director who allegedly groped his female co-star during a scene. Winstone, known for his role in Netflix’s ‘The Gentlemen’, stated that the director ‘abused his power’ by inappropriately touching the actress while demonstrating a scene that required Winstone to pick her up.
Winstone, 69, recounted the incident to The Times, explaining that he immediately reprimanded the director and resolved the situation. ‘I had this director once – I was in a scene where I had to pick up this girl, and the director wanted to show me what to do,’ he said. ‘But he was groping her.’ Winstone emphasized that he told the director not to dare do that again.
The actor did not specify the director’s name but noted that the situation was handled. He reflected on how such issues were dealt with in the past, mentioning that back then, the person would have been given ‘a slap’. However, he acknowledged that ‘it’s a different world today’.
Winstone also shared his thoughts on working with Hollywood star Jack Nicholson, describing him as ‘arrogant’ but expressing his desire to collaborate with him again. The actor emphasized his dislike for arrogance and shared his methods of dealing with such behavior.
