POLICY WIRE — Aarau, Switzerland — A shooting at a rave in the northern Swiss canton of Aargau has resulted in one death and five injuries, according to local police and media reports.

Cantonal police announced on social media that one individual was killed and five others were wounded, some critically, during a shooting at an event in Aarau, the canton’s capital located 29 miles west of Zurich.

Police spokesperson Pascal Wenzel informed Swiss public broadcaster SRF that authorities were notified of the shooting around 2:30 a.m.

The incident occurred during the “Aarau Rave VOL. 7” at the horse racing track in Aarau’s Schachen district. The fire department established a perimeter around the site.

A significant police operation is currently underway, and residents have been advised to avoid the area.
