POLICY WIRE — New Orleans, USA — The Trump administration has deported far-right commentator Milo Yiannopoulos to the United Kingdom following his arrest in New Orleans.

Yiannopoulos was taken into custody at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport on August 28. A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security confirmed his deportation to The Independent.

The deportation came after an immigration judge issued a final order of removal on July 22, due to Yiannopoulos’ failure to appear at his immigration hearing.

Far-right activist Laura Loomer asserted that she was responsible for Yiannopoulos’ detention. She told The Washington Post that she reported him to authorities after he allegedly made threatening posts about her.

Yiannopoulos, known for his controversial views and past association with Breitbart, had previously called for aggressive immigration enforcement measures.

The deportation occurred despite Yiannopoulos’ plans to publish a new book, Ex Gay, under an imprint from former Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson.

Yiannopoulos’ career has been marred by controversy, including past remarks about underage relationships and his involvement in right-wing political campaigns.
