The Drug Enforcement Administration launched an investigation in 2022 after Kelly Davis accused Rubinger of exacerbating her husband’s addiction. Authorities claim Davis received over 13,000 opioid pills from November 2019 to March 2024.

Davis’ addiction has also impacted his personal life, contributing to his divorce and a subsequent scandal involving his ex-wife’s arrest for assault. Today, Davis remains involved with the Panthers, focusing on repairing his relationship with his children and acknowledging the role of his addiction in his life’s challenges.
