Honeytrap Duo Convicted for Drugging and Robbing Escort Clients

POLICY WIRE — London, UK — Adina Mihai, 32, and Madalin Dumitru, 29, have been convicted for drugging and robbing their victims. The pair administered the drug GBL to render their targets unconscious before stealing their belongings. Both defendants were sentenced to lengthy prison terms following a trial at the Central Criminal Court.

Mihai and Dumitru targeted male clients who sought their services through escort websites. The victims were lured to various locations under the pretense of paid companionship. Once the men were incapacitated by the drug, the defendants stole cash, credit cards, and other valuables.

“The defendants showed a complete disregard for their victims, using a dangerous substance to incapacitate them before committing theft,” stated Detective Inspector Jane Collins of the Metropolitan Police. “This was a well-orchestrated criminal enterprise that caused significant harm to those involved.”

Several victims came forward after regaining consciousness, reporting disorientation, memory loss, and theft. Forensic evidence, including traces of GBL found in the victims’ systems, linked Mihai and Dumitru to the crimes. Text messages and online communications also provided crucial evidence during the trial.

Mihai was sentenced to 12 years in prison, while Dumitru received a 10-year sentence. The court heard that both defendants had previous convictions for similar offenses. Judge Margaret Hughes emphasized the severity of the crimes, noting the vulnerability of the victims and the premeditated nature of the offenses.

“This case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by individuals who exploit others for personal gain,” Judge Hughes remarked. “The sentences reflect the gravity of their actions and aim to deter similar criminal behavior in the future.”
