POLICY WIRE — Washington, D.C. — US President Donald Trump indicated on Sunday that he’s prepared to allow economic pressure to build against Iran, seemingly retreating from ordering additional military strikes despite Tehran’s stringent demands.
“We’re low-keying it,” Trump stated, as reported by Axios, which conducted a brief phone interview with him.
This statement comes just a week after Trump issued another in a series of threats to strike Iran hard, only to subsequently back off. He continues to push for a deal to conclude the conflict he initiated alongside Israel.
