Ukrainian Drones Target Major Oil Infrastructure in Russia’s Samara Oblast
Ukrainian forces reportedly hit a critical oil production station in Samara Oblast overnight, continuing their campaign against Russia's energy assets.
POLICY WIRE — Samara, Russia — Ukrainian drones reportedly launched an overnight strike against a significant oil-related facility in Russia’s Samara Oblast during the early hours of November 2.
According to Ukrainian monitoring groups Supernova+ and Exilenova+, the drones targeted the Samara Linear Production and Dispatch Station. This facility, located in Prosvet, is situated approximately 835 kilometers (520 miles) northeast of the Ukrainian border.
Video footage captured by local residents depicts large plumes of smoke rising over the city during the morning hours following the reported impact. While the smoke is visible, the exact extent of the damage and the specific targets hit have not yet been independently verified.
The Prosvet site serves as a vital component of the Russian oil pipeline network, housing various pumping stations, tank farms, and blending facilities. The General Staff of Ukraine noted that the station is responsible for mixing oil from western Siberia and other domestic regions to create export-grade fuel intended for the Russian military.
This is not the first time the facility has faced Ukrainian aggression in recent history. On October 7, the site was engulfed in massive fires following a previous drone-led attack by Ukrainian forces.
The latest operation occurs as Ukraine maintains its focus on disrupting Russia’s energy grid. This follows rumors suggesting Kyiv might have accepted an energy ceasefire proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, though senior Ukrainian officials clarified that no such agreement was reached to halt strikes on Russian oil targets as of October 31.
The Samara strike closely follows another operation where Ukrainian forces hit a major refinery in Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, on the night of November 1. Since the start of 2026, Ukraine has maintained a consistent campaign of long-range drone attacks aimed at Russian fuel depots and refineries to undermine the logistics of the ongoing war.
