Ukraine-Russia War: Russian Airstrike Hits Kyiv’s Northern Bridge Amid Escalating Infrastructure Attacks
Russian airstrikes hit Kyiv's Northern Bridge, escalating attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure. No casualties reported.
POLICY WIRE — Kyiv, Ukraine — A Russian airstrike damaged the Northern Bridge over the Dnipro River in Kyiv, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko. The attack occurred on Saturday and led to the temporary closure of traffic between the eastern and western banks of the river due to damage to the road surface and overhead trolleybus cables.
No injuries were reported following the strike. In the past two days, the Southern Bridge has been targeted multiple times by Russian drones, causing disruptions on that structure and two other bridges spanning the Dnipro River. Nearly 90% of transit traffic between the two banks relies on the Southern Bridge, which was struck again earlier this week during peak hours.

Russian attacks on Kyiv’s infrastructure have intensified, disrupting daily life and causing long traffic jams across the city. The strikes are part of a broader campaign targeting key facilities, including energy systems, railways, and public services. Meanwhile, the EU has raised concerns about the dire conditions in Oleshky, a town under Russian occupation, where civilians face severe shortages of food, medicine, and water.
