Two Former FBI Officials Charged with Making False Statements Over Hunter Biden Laptop Investigation
Two ex-FBI intelligence officials face federal charges for making false statements regarding the Hunter Biden laptop inquiry ahead of the 2020 election.
POLICY WIRE — Washington, United States — Two former FBI intelligence officials who specialized in foreign election interference were charged on a Friday with making false statements about their involvement in investigating the origins of Hunter Biden’s laptop during the period leading up to the 2020 presidential election.
Both Nikki Floris and Bradley Benavides turned themselves in on Friday, subsequently making their initial appearances in federal court located in Washington.
Legal counsel for Nikki Floris issued a strong defense in an official statement, describing her as a patriot who served the nation as a dedicated FBI intelligence officer for nearly 20 years while asserting that the Department of Justice falsely accused her based on political motivations rather than factual evidence.
Her attorneys added that it is no coincidence the federal government chose to file these charges years later right on the eve of an upcoming election.
The indictment was formally brought forward just 10 days before the November 3 elections, representing the latest in a series of prominent and politically charged investigative actions pursued by the Justice Department as midterm contests approach.
