TSA Agents Discover Bizarre Wolverine-Style Mutant Blades in Seattle Airport Carry-On
TSA officers at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport intercept a frightening set of comic book-inspired mutant blades hidden inside a passenger carry-on bag.
POLICY WIRE — Seattle, United States — Security personnel at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport recently intercepted a frightening weapon that looked straight out of a horror film or comic book after spotting suspicious shapes on an X-ray screen.
Transportation Security Administration officers Douglas Linn and Dennis Oishi flagged the luggage at a security checkpoint before conducting a physical search of the bag, according to agency officials.
Upon inspecting the contents, officers uncovered a menacing apparatus that the agency likened to a combination of Wolverine-style claws and the iconic blades wielded by movie villain Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare on Elm Street.
The TSA took to social media on Tuesday to share photographs of the eerie gear alongside a lighthearted warning emphasizing that certain cinematic accessories belong in checked luggage rather than passenger cabins.
Linn, who initially spotted the unusual item on the checkpoint monitor, admitted he was completely taken aback when the objects materialized on his display.
When the gear emerged from the bag, Linn expressed his astonishment, noting that he had never encountered anything quite like it throughout his two years working with the TSA.
According to authorities, the traveler explained that he had simply forgotten the sharp equipment was stored inside his luggage and readily surrendered the items at the checkpoint after Oishi extracted them.
Supervisory TSA officer Ann Rhoades added that the discovery ranked among the strangest objects she had ever witnessed throughout her seven-year tenure with the agency.
Recalling her initial reaction to the gear, Rhoades admitted her mind immediately raced in disbelief as she questioned whether the item actually was what it appeared to be.
Under official TSA regulations, travelers are permitted to transport sharp items such as knives, darts, corkscrews, and box cutters within checked baggage provided the objects are securely wrapped or sheathed to protect baggage handlers and inspection staff from harm.
