Trump Links FlyDubai Co-Pilot to Iran, Says ‘Based on What I’m Hearing’
Trump claims FlyDubai co-pilot may be linked to Iran, citing 'what I'm hearing' as investigation continues.
POLICY WIRE — Washington, United States — President Donald Trump has suggested the FlyDubai co-pilot who allegedly attempted to crash a plane bound for Israel is connected to Iran, based on what he says he is hearing, though no evidence has been presented.
The incident occurred as the aircraft was approaching Tel Aviv from Dubai. The co-pilot reportedly stabbed the captain and tried to take control of the plane before passengers subdued him. The captain managed to unlock the cockpit, and the plane eventually made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia with off-duty pilots.

Trump stated on the White House South Lawn that the U.S. is investigating the matter and that, based on his information, the co-pilot may be linked to Iran. He also indicated that if Iran is involved, the U.S. would respond strongly. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, however, said it is too early to determine Iran’s involvement, calling the incident more likely a suicide attempt than a hijacking.
