Trump-Funded Ads with ‘God Made Trump’ Message to Air Before Midterms
Trump-funded ads with 'God made Trump' message hit airwaves. Midterm campaign sparks controversy over taxpayer money use.
POLICY WIRE — Washington, D.C. — A government-funded ad campaign featuring former President Donald Trump is set to air ahead of the November midterm elections, drawing criticism over its use of taxpayer money and political messaging.
The White House has described the ads as “educational” and unapologetically patriotic, but they have sparked debate over whether they violate federal laws governing the use of public funds for political purposes. The campaign includes a 15-second spot titled “God Made Trump,” which features a narrator declaring, “I need somebody with arms strong enough to rustle the deep state. So God made Trump.”

CNN obtained 12 of the 13 ads, which highlight Trump’s military actions, his role in hosting the UFC event at the White House, and his efforts to apprehend Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro. The ads, which end with the disclaimer Paid for by the U.S. Government, are part of a broader push by the administration to promote Trump’s record. The White House has allocated $20 million from the Department of Homeland Security for the campaign, with at least $2.5 million already spent on airtime.
