Trump and Hegseth Face Low Approval Ratings Among Veterans and Military Personnel
A new Common Defense poll reveals Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth are struggling with approval from military members and veterans over perceived politicization.
POLICY WIRE — D.C. — President Donald Trump and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth are struggling to maintain support from the military community and veterans, according to recent data from Common Defense.
The survey, which tracked 731 individuals including active-duty service members, veterans, and their families, shows that both leaders are currently underwater in their approval metrics.
Data indicates that 67 percent of those surveyed expressed concern that military decisions made during the Trump administration are being driven by political motives.
The findings highlight a deep-seated unease within the armed forces regarding the current direction of leadership and the perceived politization of the department.
Furthermore, the poll suggests that approximately half of the respondents are dissatisfied with the performance of the President and the Secretary of Defense.
These results come as the midterm elections approach, reflecting a significant rift between the executive leadership and those who serve in the military.
