Teen Reunites with Long-Lost Sister After Spotting Her on Rival Softball Team
Montana teen finds long-lost sister at tournament after teammate spots a lookalike. Emotional reunion confirmed.
POLICY WIRE — Polson, Montana — A 19-year-old Montana woman recently experienced an emotional reunion with her long-lost biological sister after spotting her during a softball tournament.
Samantha Rensvold, who was adopted as a child, had no knowledge of her younger sibling, who was placed in a closed adoption. During the August event, a teammate pointed out that a player from the opposing team bore an uncanny resemblance to her.
Rensvold initially doubted the similarity but later confirmed it by checking the tournament roster. She discovered the player’s name was Kyann Dean, matching the name given to her by her birth mother. The sisters, who have not taken a DNA test, were overjoyed at the unexpected connection.

Their families learned they shared the same biological mother and were born at the same hospital. Despite growing up 400 miles apart, the sisters discovered numerous similarities, including their love for sports and shared personal traits.
Rensvold, now a freshman at Spokane College, said the discovery brought closure to her questions about her biological family. She had previously spoken about having a sister, but now she could finally put a face to the name.
