Solidarity Mural Covered Ahead of Donald Trump Rally in Dubuque
Officials in Dubuque, Iowa, covered a prominent mural at the Five Flags Center following a request from the Trump campaign ahead of a Sunday rally.
POLICY WIRE — Dubuque, Iowa — A prominent artwork located on the eastern side of the Five Flags Center has been concealed under a large tarp in preparation for President Donald Trump’s scheduled appearance this Sunday.
Management at the event center confirmed that the order to obscure the piece came directly from the President’s campaign team. The visit is part for a rally intended to provide endorsements for various Republican candidates.
The covered mural, originally created in 2020, features a design of ten raised fists rendered in various colors. The word ‘solidarity’ is integrated into the artwork through symbols and lettering positioned on the wrists.
City officials in Dubuque stated they instructed the facility’s manager to ensure the exterior mural was covered before the presidential visit began on Sunday, November 1.
