POLICY WIRE — Shanghai, China — Typhoon Dolphin has prompted Shanghai to cancel nearly 60% of flights scheduled for Sunday as the storm approaches the coast of Zhejiang and Fujian provinces. The China National Meteorological Centre issued a red alert for Typhoon Dolphin at 10am on Sunday, with the storm located over the southern East China Sea, approximately 215km (134 miles) east of Wenzhou, Zhejiang.

The typhoon is projected to make landfall along the Zhejiang and Fujian provinces between Sunday night and Monday morning. Authorities in Shanghai have taken preemptive measures to ensure public safety, leading to the significant reduction in flight operations.
