The aircraft, a Tu-95, fell in an unpopulated area of the Amur region. One crew member survived and was taken to the hospital with injuries. The ministry confirmed that the plane was not carrying any weapons at the time of the crash.

A team of investigators has been dispatched to the site to determine the cause of the accident. The regional administration reported that the crash occurred near the village of Krasnoyarovo, close to the Zeya River and the Chinese border. Officials stated that the pilots made efforts to avoid populated areas during the emergency.
